Cebu-based Oakridge Realty Development Corp (ORDC), developer of the premier Oakridge Business Park in Mandaue City, takes its commitment towards a more sustainable future a step further, by fully transitioning from clean energy to 100% renewable energy (RE) with First Gen Corporation (First Gen) for the supply of 1.7 megawatts full renewable energy for its 4-hectare business park.
The collaborative partnership with First Gen started last February 2021, as Oakridge Business Park first shifted from being powered by coal to natural gas. Since then, it has gradually taken transformative leaps in the RE space and is now fully transitioned from clean energy to renewable energy, making it the only commercial business park in Cebu to be fully powered by 100% renewable energy.
In a recent signing ceremony, ORDC President, Ms. Anne K. Liu, shares, “With sustainability at the core of our operations, we commend the vision of First Gen towards a greener environment and their proactive response to the pressing need for sustainable, long term energy solutions for the future.” She further adds, “Being in the real estate development industry, the impact of what we do today significantly affects future generations, and so for change to be sustainable and effective, we make a conscious effort to integrate these initiatives into our daily routines and activities.”
ORDC is the real estate property development arm of the LH Paragon Group, a Cebu-based holding company with businesses in various industries. Anchored on stewardship across its businesses, the Group likewise continues to implement various initiatives to significantly reduce its carbon footprint towards a more regenerative environment for the years to come.
ORDC’s three-year geothermal power supply comes from First Gen’s 100% RE arm, Energy Development Corporation (EDC). Besides power supply, First Gen also provides a remote energy monitoring system (REMS) that allows ORDC to closely monitor and analyze key energy parameters, thereby helping promote energy conservation and efficiency. An ongoing discussion is also underway for providing rooftop solar energy to further support ORDC’s green goals.
“We applaud ORDC’s decision to continue greening its facilities and we’re more than glad to be a part of it. We will keep on collaborating with their team to provide the energy solutions that they need for all their facilities,” said Carlo Vega, Vice President and head of First Gen’s Power Marketing, Trading, and Economics.
EDC is First Gen’s 100% renewable energy subsidiary that has over 1,480-MW total installed capacity and accounts for 20% of the country’s total installed RE capacity. Its 1,185.40-MW geothermal portfolio accounts for 62% of the country’s total installed geothermal capacity, making the Philippines the third largest geothermal producer in the world. First Gen is the Philippines’ leading clean energy company. Aside from geothermal, First Gen’s portfolio of power plants runs on hydro, solar wind, and natural gas, considered the cleanest form of fossil fuel.
